What was your first #Zombie Movie?

Making my rounds in the Zombie Community or as I coined it a few years ago "Zommunity", I notice that alot of people that are fans of the genre were introduced to it by watching George Romero's 1978 "Dawn of the Dead".

I have also heard some say the 1990 version of "Night of the Living Dead" as well as the 2004 "Dawn of the Dead" remake.

Well, the very first #zombie movie I ever watched was a little known cult classic titled "Children Shouldn't Play With Dead Things".

This movie is about a small troupe of amateur actors and actresses that decide to visit a cemetery island off of New York City.

On their little adventure, the groups leader Alan "played by Alan Ormsby, director of Porky's", decides that it is a great idea to dabble in a little "satanic" ceremony meant to resurrect the dead. To their dismay, it appeared like it did not work, but then decided to bring a corpse back to an abandoned house and have a mock celebration honoring him. The movie ends with zombies coming out of the ground, surrounding the house, and people getting their just desserts.

This still remains one of my favorite zombie movies of all time! If you are a true zombie genre fan, this title makes an excellent addition to your the collection. It is available on dvd!

p.s.: There is talk of a remake!

Night of the Living Dead (1968)

Long has it been argued exactly how one becomes a Zombie in the Romero universe!

Some believe that you must be bitten while others are of the school that you simply just have to die.

I am of the second group that believes that you need only pass on to the afterlife!

I have initiated my own research into this matter and have been sharing my findings with the fine gentlemen of Z.E.D.D. Radio via the Twitterverse.

After careful review of the original film with much time spent rewinding and pausing I have put together 3 separate segments in the movie that support my side of the age old debate!

I am including the quotes from the movie as well as where in the movie they can be found.

#1
"It has been established that persons who have recently died have been returning to life and committing acts of murder.
A widespread investigation of reports from funeral homes, morgues, and hospitals has concluded that the UNBURIED dead are coming back to life and seeking human victims"
This quote can be found at 56:20.

#2
"In the cold room at the university we had a cadaver. A cadaver from which all four limbs had been amputated. Some time early this morning it opened it's eyes and began to move it's trunk. It was dead, but it opened it's eyes and tried to move"
This quote is at 1:01:20

#3
"So long as this situation remains, Government Spokesmen warn that dead bodies will continue to transform into the flesh eating ghouls.
ALL persons who die during this crisis, FROM WHATEVER CAUSE, will come back to life, to seek human victims, unless their bodies are first disposed of by cremation"
This quote is from 1:18:05. Shortly after this statement was made, an announcement was made that the ghouls could be put down by destroying the brain.

This was simply from the first of the Romero Zombie Universe. I will be reviewing them all for similar evidence and posting my findings here for all of you.

Romerothon

What's up everyone?

I decided to do a George Romero Zombiethon today.

The reason behind this is actually more for research and discussion than for the entertainment value; because I do love these movies!

The discussion has been an ongoing topic on Z.E.D.D. Radio about whether you have to get bitten to become a zombie in the Romero universe or if you just have to die.  I of course put forth that you do not need to be bitten by a zombie to become a zombie, you need only die!

This claim has been put to question and in support of my side I am re-watching them and making my time stamp notes.

Go check out our good friends at Z.E.D.D Radio on the twitterverse by visiting:

Until next time; be safe and avoid them pesky zombies!
